Authentication

You'll need to authenticate your requests using token authentication to access any of the endpoints in the Covertier API. In this guide, we'll look at how authentication works.

Bearer token

The recommended way to authenticate with the Covertier API is by using a bearer token, also called access token or API key. When establishing a connection to the API, you will need to include your access token, which you can find in the Covertier dashboard, in the request headers. Here's how to add the token to the request headers using cURL:

Example request with bearer token

curl -G https://covertier.com/api/v1/vehicle/valuation/makes \
     -H "Authorization: Bearer {TOKEN}"

Always keep your token safe and reset it if you suspect it has been compromised.

Using an SDK

If you use one of our official SDKs, you won't have to worry about any of the above — fetch your access token from the Covertier dashboard (coming soon), and the client library will take care of the rest.
